This Involuntary action literally happens to everybody I know! It happens to every living being. It's not so nice and friendly when it does happen to you right? (*lol* it won't even allow you finish a sentence! Haba!)
But do you even know what a hiccup is?
Hiccups are sudden, involuntary contractions of the
diaphragm muscle. As the muscle contracts repeatedly, the
opening between the vocal cords snaps shut to check the
inflow of air and makes the hiccup sound.
Causes of hiccup.
1. Eating too much food too quickly.
2. Drinking too much alcohol.
3. Smoking
4. Emotional stress.
5. A sudden change in stomach temperature such as drinking a hot or cold beverage.
Home remedies to get rid of hiccups.
1. Drink a lot of water.
2. Hold your breath.
3. Have someone frighten you.
4. Use smelling salts.
5. Place one-half teaspoon of dry sugar on the back of the
tongue. (Repeat this process 3 times at 2-minute intervals,
if necessary use corn syrup, not sugar ,in young
children.)
